connect to God through prayer

  • Pray for Amanda Dover, whose uncle Troy passed away Monday. Pray for Eilene Moreno (Mom of Aneesa, Amourah and Ali) who is having surgery on the 12th. Pray for Manuel and Karen Madrid as she has heart surgery on Dec. 18 and he is waiting for a cancer surgery date. Elva Cardona requests prayer for a 30-year-old family friend Dusty who has been diagnosed with leukemia and is undergoing chemo in a local hospital away from family. Kristel Salazar requests prayer for her friend Shelby, who has a high-risk pregnancy.
  • Pray for those dealing with long-term health issues and cancer treatments.
  • Also remember: Marilyn Chappell and other residents in Palm Village Healthcare, Harold Kruger and others in Sierra View, and Mary Salazar
  • Pray for those who have lost loved ones, especially during this Christmas season.
  • Pray for those who are seeking employment.
  • Pray for the undocumented in our community and those facing food insecurity and financial challenges.
  • Pray for our missionaries: Pablo & Maricela Chavez (in US on furlough), Cecil & Tracy Ramos in Thailand, Jonathan & Joanna Gutierrez in Portugal, and Johnny & Denise Esposito in Cambodia.
  • Pray for peace as violence and war affect so many families and children in Ukraine, Israel, Gaza, in the Middle East, and in parts of Africa.

In a noisy world, connect to PEACE

Pictured above: Southard family shares about Peace and light the second candle of advent.

Isaiah 26:3: "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you."
Advent is supposed to be peaceful, but life feels loud with school, social media, and expectations. I’ve realized that some of the noise is inside me too. It tends to look like worry and stress that doesn’t stop. Some of the “noise” I experience in my life are school assignments, deadlines, and feeling like I always have to catch up. Peace feels completely different. It makes me feel calm like I can finally breathe again. It's moments like these where I no longer worry about everything all at once.
Lately I’ve been trying to intentionally create small moments of silence. This might look like praying for a minute or putting my phone down and just playing sports. One moment I felt that quiet peace was when I took a break from my phone and went to a quiet park for a few minutes. Everything felt still and I could finally relax and think clearly. It was a small moment, but I felt so calm inside. In those quiet moments, I feel God inviting me to slow down and find real peace.
