Prayer

  • Pray for Ron Thiessen, grieving the loss of his wife, Edith. Remember Mary Fenske, as well. She lost her nephew recently.
  • Pray for Mike Naylor, recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. CT scan is on Monday.
  • JR Southard's sister, Cheryl, was hospitalized with a broken leg. They found cancer in the kidney and removed one and are now testing for bone cancer. Remember JR, too, as he has daily pain.
  • Pastor Mark's aunt Sharon is recovering from brain cancer surgery. His sister-in-law has finally returned to Indiana after having surgery on a broken femur while on a trip to Kansas.
  • Continue praying for others needing healing: Eugene Enns (facial paralysis), Marjorie Elrich, who has finally been released from skilled nursing and is home, Glen & Peggy Zimmerman, Mariilyn Chappell, Chris Holmen, and Kathy Dougherty. Cheryl Jackson, Executive Director of Open Gate Ministries, was hospitalized Monday with ongoing tests.
  • Thank the Lord for the Kitchen Team, led by Laurel Smith. They've been working so faithfully at Grab & Go Meals, CR dinners on Thursday evenings, and other ministry events.
  • Pablo & Maricela Chavez and their boys, Isaac, Joshua, and Samuel are leaving for Peru with Multiply on November 7th. We'll have another opportunity to pray over them on Oct. 16th.
  • John & Geri continue travelling to supporting churches as they near retirement from Multiply. Pray as they will be leaving for Germany and Turkey soon.
  • Remember to pray for the Good News Clubs at Jefferson Elementary on Wednesdays and the one at Monson-Sultana on Thursdays.

I'm hearing some good things about the Hunger to Worship night being planned by Women's Ministries for next Friday night, October 21st. NLC KIds ministries is working alongside our worship leaders toward an interactive experience for the whole family. I'm really looking forward to it and hope you come!

The fascinating thing about children is that they aren't locked into any one tradition or style. To them everything is new and interesting. I like to think that we will all be like that in Heaven. Jesus said that unless we become like children we can't enter Heaven. Now that I'm older I think I get what he meant. Adults who have their minds made up and preferences set wouldn't even want to enter Heaven where everything has been made new. We'd just long for the old.

So come with the heart of a child and ask God to give you a hunger to worship. The Lord will be pleased to answer that prayer and you'll be pleasantly surprised at the joy of worshiping with children. I'm grateful for those who conceived of this experience and are working to create a wonderful evening of worship. To God be the glory!

Mark Isaac
