Celebrate Recovery Weekly Encouragement 4-13-23
I am sure that God, who began this good work in you,
will carry it on until it is finished on the Day of Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 1:6 (GNT)
When you pursue God’s dream for your life in light of eternity, you don’t get discouraged as easily when you face troubles.
You don’t give up what God has called you to do because you know what is coming is the best gift you’ve ever been given.
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, “That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our inner strength in the Lord is growing every day. These troubles and sufferings of ours are, after all, quite small and won’t last very long. Yet this short time of distress will result in God’s richest blessing upon us forever and ever! So we do not look at what we can see right now, the troubles all around us, but we look forward to the joys in heaven which we have not yet seen. The troubles will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever” (TLB).
We don’t know what trouble you’re going through right now, but here are three truths you can lean on:
1) It won’t last. If your dream is from God, no struggle will keep you from it forever.
2) God will still use troubles for good in your life. It will even build your character if you’ll surrender it to him.
3) You’ll be rewarded forever in eternity for your suffering for Christ.
Whatever you’re facing, know that it doesn’t surprise God. The same God who gave you the dream is walking beside you as you struggle right now.
Hang on to God’s promise in Philippians 1:6: “I am sure that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it on until it is finished on the Day of Christ Jesus” (GNT).

Lesson 8 Moral
I wish I could say that you can escape the pain of your past altogether by going around it or jumping over it. But the only way I know to get rid of the pain of your past is to go through it. It has been said that “we need to use our past as a springboard, not a sofa —a guidepost, not a hitching post.”
I know some people who spend their lives rationalizing the past, complaining about the present, and fearing the future. They, of course, are not moving forward on the road to recovery.
