Bible Memory Verses
New booklets are available
on the Welcome Table in the Dining Room
or from the church office
As the Elders were selecting verses for 2024, two elders chose this one! So we made it the verse to start the year. It's a reminder of who we really are as a church. We aren't a social club, organized for our own benefit or the benefit of others.
The Bible tells us that God chose us in our own time--this generation--to be priests. That means we are here, as Jesus' representatives--royal priests of the King of kings, to intervene between God and our neighbors. We do that by interceding for their salvation, by teaching them all that God desires them to know, and by bringing them into the body of Christ.
The Bible also tells us that we are a holy nation. Don't go thinking that this means the USA! The Bible is saying that we, his followers, are a nation--a kingdom--that goes beyond earthly, national borders to embrace people from every tribe and tongue. We've got to think bigger than this fine country of ours and from becoming entangled in its political and cultural battles. We must live as God calls us regardless of the direction our nation or any nation chooses to go.
The Bible calls us God's special people. That's not to make us think more highly of ourselves than we do of others. Jesus was God's special son who gave his life for us. And so we, because we are confident of our place in God's heart, can freely give ourselves to others, sharing this same love and grace that we have been given.
The Bible gives us our purpose, too: to proclaim the praises of God. How's that for a vision for 2024?! Let this verse inspire you to set a course of praise this year, thanking God and letting others know all that he's done for you and does for you each day of this year!

Two more ways to support local ministries:
connect with God in prayer
- Pray for Paulie & Evelyn Romero. He was recently hospitalized and is preparing to enter long-term healthcare. Pray for healing, wisdom, and strength.
- Pray for Lori Moreno (Justin Grigg's mother and Alyza Dover's grandmother), who has been hospitalized this week.
- Remember those dealing with health issues: Michelle Perez, Makenna Witherall, Al Suderman, Mary Salazar, and Cynthia Avendano. Pray also for Johnny & Denise Esposito's adopted daughter, Aster Pachou Herh. Zach Clemmer begins physical therapy on his wrist. More people are recovering from illness over the recent holidays.
- Pray for the families dedicating themselves and their children to the Lord: Lafayette & Joanna Brooks - Adonis; Amanda Dover & Justin Griggs - Austin; Eva Morazan - Aria; and Frederick & Dejanirra Parker - Cali, Rozlie, Zaillyn, and Miguel-Angel.
- Praise the Lord as well for Jordan & Tristan Ringhofer as they become members of NLC!
- Praise the Lord that Ana Tovar is returning to provide Spanish translation on Sundays!
- Cecil & Tracy Ramos and sons, Solas and Judah, are heading back to Thailand. They have a send-off event on January 27th.
- Mike Naylor is receiving daily radiation treatments, through Feb. 2nd. Pray for endurance.
- Remember those who are fighting cancer or awaiting diagnosis or treatment: Mike Naylor, Kristel Salazar, Eugene Enns, Carolina Coralles, Glen Zimmerman, Lanisha Washington, Lori Moreno, and Kristel Salazar's coworker, Ricardo.
- Remember those who have lost loved ones recently: Carol Isaak (husband George), Kristi Buller (stepfather), Mike & Nori Naylor (aunt), Robert & Genevieve Mendoza (aunt), Manuel & Karen Madrid (mother), Janet Southard (JR), Nora Reimche (mother), Lyubov Heinrichs (mother), and Rosie Moreno (Danny).
- Continue praying for an end to violence in Israel and Gaza, as well as in Russia and Ukraine. Tensions are mounting with China, and there is increasing conflict in nations from South America to Africa, Asia, the Levant, and the Middle East.
