connect to God through prayer

  • Pray for health and strength for Bob Martin, George Sawatzky, Emma (Karen Madrid's mother), Carolina Coralles, and Glen Zimmerman.
  • Pray for Kim Enns, Richard Clemmer and Sophia Salazar, all recovering from surgery.
  • Pray for Miguel-Angel (Hezekiah) Parker as he awaits a new surgery date. His original scheduled surgeries for Monday and Thursday have been postponed due to a shortage of IV fluid. Please continue to keep Hezekiah and the Parker family in prayer.
  • Pray for Abe & Holly Isaak's 6-year-old granddaughter Tessa Fiscus, who is being treated for cancer, but is doing well at home.
  • Also remember: Doris Siebert, Marilyn Chappell and other residents in Palm Village Healthcare, Harold Kruger and others in Sierra View, Louie and Michelle Perez, Mary Salazar, and Zach Clemmer.
  • Continue to pray for those who have lost loved ones.
  • Pray for safety and peace of mind for the students who attend schools in our surrounding communities. There have been an increase in violent threats the past couple of weeks.
  • Pray for the students attending Good News Club on Tuesday afternoons at Jefferson School, and the volunteers.
  • Pray for those who are seeking employment.
  • Keep the pastoral search in your prayers as the pastor position is being publicized.
  • Pray for our missionaries: Pablo & Maricela Chavez in Peru (click here for their newsletter!), Cecil & Tracy Ramos in Thailand, Jonathan & Joanna Gutierrez in Portugal, and Johnny & Denise Esposito, who are home before returning to SE Asia.
  • Pray for peace as violence and war affect so many families and children in Ukraine, Israel, Gaza, in the Middle East, and in parts of Africa.
  • Please pray for the USMB churches in North Carolina (and elsewhere) affected by Hurricane Helene, and now by Hurricane Milton. Pray for the families who have been displaced, for shelters opening doors to those in need, for the many volunteers responding to help, for recovery efforts, for restoration of power and for donations for supplies.

Connect to God's Miraculous Work

John 2:11  "This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him."

This past week, the subject of miracles came up among the youth and youth pastors. Throughout the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, we find that Jesus performed miracles. Throughout Jesus' earthly ministry, he performed so many miracles in people's lives which proved he is the Son of God, the Second Person of the Triune God, God the Son, the Messiah and Savior of the world. He healed the sick and diseased, he casted out devils from the lives of those who were possessed, feeding thousands of hungry people with a very small amount of food, raising people from the dead. The Gospel of John also says this about Jesus performing miracles in John 21:25, "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, that which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen."

Every day as Christ ministered to people, there are so many countless miracles he performed in their lives. It brought us to the question, "Do I believe that Jesus still performs miracles today in the lives of people?" One of our teenagers shared that he was riding his dirt bike and came close to a cliff and literally fell off. Scared and in confusion as he was falling, he ended up landing on a bush. Miraculously, he got up from the fall with no injuries. He believed that God protected him. Another one of our teenagers was playing soccer out in a local park with friends. There was an altercation in the parking lot between two men. Gunshots were fired and flew towards the direction of where the youth were playing. One of them was standing near a pole and the bullet ricocheted off the pole nearly hitting him and his friends. They believed that God miraculously kept them out of harm's way. One of our youth pastors shared that God saving him and pulling him away from a dark life of sin is a miracle. He would have never thought that he and his family would be going to church or even be helping to shepherd young people and inspiring them to live for Jesus.

These are amazing testimonies of God still performing miracles today.  I want to encourage you to reflect on the miracles that God has performed in your life--what miracles have you seen God do for you?

Yes. Jesus still works miracles today! We have witnessed them at the Healing Rooms here at NLC.
