Celebrate Recovery Weekly Encouragement 9-20-23
This week let's think about how important it is to take time every day to look at ourselves, read the Bible, and pray. In our busy lives, it can be easy to forget about this important part of the healing process. But when we make spending time with God a priority, we give Him the chance to guide, teach, and change us.
Psalm 119:105 tells us that God's Word is like a lamp that shows us where to go and helps us find our way. On the road to recovery, we often have to make hard choices and face hurdles and temptations. But when we read and study the Bible often, God's Word becomes a source of direction and knowledge that helps us make decisions that are in line with God's will.
Another important part of this is to look at ourself. When we take time to think about our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, the Holy Spirit can show us where we need to grow or make up for mistakes. When we think about ourselves and pray, we can give God our weaknesses and mistakes and ask for His forgiveness, healing, and power.
Also, praying every day brings us closer to God and lets us talk to Him in a very personal way. Through prayer, we can tell God what we need, how thankful we are, ask for help, and offer ourselves as tools for Him to use. The more you talk to God, the closer you get to Him and the more you need Him.
Let's take time every day to look at ourselves, read the Bible, and pray. When we do this, we ask God to guide our steps, light our ways, change our lives, and give us the tools we need to do His will. May His Word always be with us, and may prayer be our way to stay in touch with Him.
Prayer:
"Dear God, thank you for the gift of Your Word and the chance to talk with you." Help me put spending time with You at the top of my list every day. Guide my steps, light my way, and change my life in the way you want. Give me the strength, knowledge, and bravery to always seek Your face. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

This Sunday!
We've all been hurt by other people, we've hurt ourselves, and we've hurt others. And as a result, every single one of us ends up with some sort of hurt, hang-up, or habit. But the question we all face is, Where do we go from here?
Life's Healing Choices offers freedom from our hurts, hang-ups, and habits through eight healing choices that promise true happiness and life transformation. Using the Beatitudes of Jesus as a foundation, Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church and John Baker, who is also a pastor at Saddleback, developed the eight choices shared in this video / workbook series.
