Celebrate Recovery Weekly Encouragement 11-29-23

Gratefulness
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV): "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."

The concept of gratefulness is consistent throughout scripture, reflecting the deep significance it holds in our spiritual lives. In the book of Psalms, 136:1 (NIV), we find: "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever."

Gratefulness allows us to see past the storms of life and focus on the love of God which never ceases. When we give thanks for our blessings and even our trials, we are acknowledging God's enduring presence in our lives.

Reflect on a time recently when you felt grateful. Could be a small thing – a kind word from a stranger, a beautiful sunset, or a comforting meal. Reflect also on a moment where it seemed difficult to be grateful. How did you feel in both situations?

This scripture calls us to continually rejoice and give thanks in all circumstances. Not just in times of prosperity and joy, but in all circumstances. This is a direct reflection of faith that even in times of hardship, God's will, love, and grace extend towards us.

Prayer:
Father, we thank you for the gift of life and the blessings, seen and unseen, that You bestow upon us each day. Fill our hearts with gratefulness, and guide us in sharing love and kindness to others as You have shown us. We pray that we maintain a heart of gratitude in all circumstances, trusting that Your love and grace are sufficient for us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

As we conclude, let us carry forward this spirit of gratitude. May it guide us in recognizing the divine gifts we receive each day and strengthen our faith even in times of adversity.
